Description:

Bardos Verdejo is a white wine from D.O. Rueda, produced by Bodegas Bardos from Grupo Vintae, which produces renown wines in twelve different Spanish D.O. like Hacienda López de Haro.

Bardos Verdejo is a wine made from 100% Verdejo , from vineyards that are 20-25 years old, located in Rueda, at more than 700 metres of altitude on stony soils. The climate has a continental influence.

The harvest is carried out at night, and they try to perform it at temperatures below 15ºC. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they go through cryomaceration in an inert atmosphere to try and extract the varietal aromas. Once they have been pressed gently with a pneumatic press, they go through a natural decantation at a low temperature. The fermentation is carried out with local yeasts at a controlled temperature. It rests on its lees for at least 4 months.

Tasting Note:

The 2022 vintage has been rated excellent by the regulatory council. A year marked by drought and high temperatures that brought the harvest date forward. Autumn began with temperatures somewhat higher than normal but with a normal rainfall. It was not until late November when temperatures dropped. The beginning of the year arrived with low temperatures and scarce rainfall. Suddenly, temperatures began to rise and accelerated the growth and phenolic development of the vines. At the end of April, there was an intense frost, a severe climatic accident that reduced the harvest by 20%. Once again, May registered very high temperatures that sped up the flowering and consequently brought the harvest date forward, becoming the earliest to date. A vintage where all the aromatic components of the grape have been extracted and the acidity has been preserved, essential to give freshness to the wine.
