A proliferation of "critter" brands and a cynical approach to promotion and price coupled with an unruly Aussie dollar saw Australian wine toppled almost as quickly as it rose.
It was against this backdrop, a backdrop where hardworking growers were feeling the heat, that Babington Brook was created.
A reaction against the big, branded culture of the past, Babington Brook Shiraz captures the current zeitgeist for authenticity and a back-to-basics approach - above all it captures the hard-grafting, honest approach of the Australian wine industry.
Working in conjunction with leading vineyard owners, grape growers and winemakers, Babington Brook draws on sustainable fruit sources, high quality G.I's, quality winemaking and inspirational branding to create a new focus for a new generation of Australian wine drinkers.
Tasting Note:
An aromatic bouquet of ripe fruits, cherries and blackcurrants, with notes of freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate, peppermint, liquorice and subtle pepper. Delicious and smooth with good balanced fruit weight.
